EFFECT OF ETHANOL EXTRACT OF KETAPANG LEAVES (Terminalia Catappa) THROUGH DRINKING WATER ON BROILER CHICKEN PRODUCTIVITY

Abstract

ABSTRAK

Meningkatnya permintaan protein hewani, terutama dari ayam broiler, harus diimbangi dengan peningkatan produktivitas ayam broiler. Antibiotik Peningkat Pertumbuhan (AGP) diketahui dapat meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan ayam broiler; namun, penggunaan yang berlebihan dapat menyebabkan residu antibiotik dan resistensi antimikroba. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan alternatif alami yang aman dan efektif. Daun ketapang ( Terminalia catappa ) mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid, tanin, saponin, fenol, dan minyak atsiri yang berpotensi sebagai agen antibakteri dan antioksidan alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun ketapang yang diberikan melalui air minum terhadap produktivitas ayam broiler, termasuk konsumsi pakan, peningkatan berat badan (BWG), dan Rasio Konversi Pakan (FCR). Sebanyak 60 ekor ayam broiler strain MB 202 berumur 8–28 hari dipelihara di kandang semi-tertutup menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (CRD) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 (kontrol), P1 (0,1 ml/100 ml air minum), P2 (0,2 ml/100 ml air minum), dan P3 (0,3 ml/100 ml air minum). Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA diikuti dengan uji Duncan pada tingkat signifikansi 5%. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun ketapang memiliki pengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, BWG, dan FCR. Perlakuan P2 menghasilkan BWG tertinggi (1430,32 g/ekor) dan nilai FCR terendah (1,24). Ekstrak etanol dari daun ketapang berpotensi digunakan sebagai aditif pakan alami untuk menggantikan AGP dalam meningkatkan produktivitas ayam broiler.
